dns, a key player in managed security, in conjunction with Scotland’s premier IT Training Company, Learning IT, has released a series of new courses for IT professionals to improve information security skills.  These five-day classes cover a number of areas including: Advanced Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics and Web Application Security Audit. The new programme has been released following the huge popularity and extensive client demand for Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration testing courses late last year.

IT departments are under increasing pressure from a number of stakeholders such as staff, customers and industry bodies to ensure that they maintain a strong security posture. This increased pressure means that well trained IT security professionals have become essential – requiring an understanding of current threats and how companies can protect themselves.

Considering the lack of experience that can be common in some IT departments, the new courses have been developed to focus on practical experience, following the major areas of network testing against a simulated small business network.

Lee Lawson, Penetration Testing Team Leader at dns said, “The first step for any organisation should be a full understanding of its vulnerabilities. Skills needed to identify these vulnerabilities are often sparse in IT teams who are facing a number of threats on a day-to-day basis. This course will educate IT professionals on the approaches and techniques used by professional penetration testers to find and understand these vulnerabilities. Key to this course is the hands-on nature we will take using lab sessions.”

Alan Dawson, Managing Director at Learning IT said, “Information security is absolutely crucial in business today and our VAPT course has proved to be a real help to those IT professionals who find themselves responsible for such matters.  From listening to our clients we have also identified more in-depth areas of security and have created follow up courses to VAPT; Advanced VAPT and Computer Forensics, and we have already received significant interest in both courses.  We are very excited about being able to combine our training experience and expertise with dns’ leading information security skills to create courses of this calibre for our clients.”

Demand is high, so if you would like to reserve a place on any of these courses please contact Bob McWhirter of Learning IT on 01786 478478, or enquiries@learningit.com. These courses are all available in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
