Firewall Support Engineer

As part of its core business dns offers managed security services that protect the networks of a wide range of blue-chip clients from attack. Initial focus for this role will be around the ongoing maintenance of our existing security and managed content products.

The job holder will be responsible for ensuring all security infrastructure devices are maintained to a high standard and will be responsible for the implementation and support of these products.

This role will suit an experienced security analyst who can demonstrate in-depth system administration and troubleshooting techniques and is looking to broaden his or her current skill-set.

The working environment is a demanding front line support role and work of a high quality is a requirement, with a proven ability to follow established industry best practices. Participation in an out-of -hours on-call rota is required.

A competitive salary & benefits will be on offer as well as additional formal training opportunities.

Typical duties will include:

  • The configuration and administration of security products.
  • Security Operations Centre rota participation
  • Out of hours on-call support on a rota basis for which an allowance is payable.

Candidates should have one or more of the following:

  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP
  • Trained and Experienced in the administration of one or more of the following:Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco ASA, Cisco Security.

Security Analyst

As part dns' core business we offer managed security services that protect the networks of a wide range of blue-chip clients from attack. On joining dns you will be part of an established team of Security Analysts who provide front-line delivery of those services which include firewalls, virtual private networks, intrusion detection, email security, strong authentication, identity management, and content filtering.

Our Secure Operations Centre is the hub of this activity and it is here where you will be based, reporting to the Service Support Team Leader.

In this role you will become skilled in analysing network traffic, investigating and combating security attacks and developing the knowledge and techniques to become a first-class network security professional.  People with service delivery experience and/or a good understanding of how networking/IT systems interact will be best suited to the role.

Typical duties will include:

  • Handling client communications including being the bridge between the client and Technical Team.
  • Classifying, logging, investigating and resolving incidents within service level agreements (SLA).
  • Appropriate escalation of issues to the Technical Team when required.
  • Updating the Configuration Management Database.
  • Analysing trends and producing reports.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the core services and service infrastructure.
  • Log change requests and co-ordinate implementation with the client and the Technical Team.
  • Liaise with the Service Delivery Manager for the production of SLA reports.
  • Project involvement including operational acceptance tests and reviewing operational handover documentation.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be working towards, or have, a degree, but not necessarily in computing.
  • Have an interest in IT Security.
  • Appreciate the importance of service delivery.
  • Be able to work to defined processes but also have the ability to improve upon, develop and create those processes.
  • Ideally have experience of working with call management and knowledge systems.
  • Be inquisitive, resourceful and adaptable.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to produce documentation to a high standard.

Given the nature of this service, shift work will probably be necessary.  This post attracts a competitive remuneration package, together with relevant training within the security field.  An allowance is given for where shift work as required.

Senior Identity Management Consultant

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the leading provider of information security services in the UK as part of the Identity Management team.

Working within professional services you will be part of a team of talented consultants delivering a holistic set of security solutions to a diverse client base.   The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate a track record in the delivery of security or identity management solutions at an enterprise level.  These skills will have been developed throughout the individual’s career, but more recently their experience will have been gained at a lead or senior consultant level within a consultancy organisation or working in a similar customer facing consultancy role within another organisation. 

The individual selected for this role will be able to demonstrate skills such as, the ability to lead and direct teams of other consultants on larger projects, perform day to day management of the overall project delivery, carry out project management duties in line with dns internal standards and act as a mentor for junior team members where necessary.   In addition, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate customer facing skills and experience, confidence, self-motivation, enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work well autonomously or as part of a team.

You will spend a high proportion of your time on client site. At all times you will be expected to demonstrate a real understanding of customer expectations to ensure that dns clients receive outstanding levels of service.

Key skills required:

• strong client facing skills gained ideally from working for a consultancy organisation as a senior or lead consultant, or from working within a client/customer facing role in another organisation

• at least 5 years industry experience, which should have been gained in a role with a strong IAM/security bias

• broad technical experience with strong client/server and network infrastructure skills. Ideally you will have professional qualifications to bolster your practical experience

• experience of project based delivery

• prepared to travel throughout the UK, occasionally overseas

In addition to the meeting the above basic criteria, candidates must have a technical background with implementation or hands on experience of two of the following:

• LDAP based directories

• relational databases - working knowledge of installing and debugging

• *nix operating systems & scripting - preferably Solaris

• development – Java is first preference, but the ability to learn and code to standards is more important - TCL or Perl would also be beneficial.

Background or exposure to identity management, enterprise security or information security is beneficial but not necessary as you will be trained. You will also gain experience of identity and access management technologies from a world class identity management team, with specific experience in leading vendor technologies such as Sun, Oracle and BMC.

Information Assurance Consultant

Location: Edinburgh / London

One of the UK’s leading providers of information security services is seeking a senior consultant to join the Information Assurance arm of their Professional Services team.  You will join a small, dynamic and enthusiastic team of information assurance specialists and contribute to their delivery of information assurance consultancy including information security management systems, risk management, security governance and compliance. 

You will have a technical background and relevant experience.  Previous customer-facing or consultancy experience is required.  You will have a degree and be qualified as one or more of the following: CISSP, CISM, CLAS.  You will have a technical background for example in server or network support or on firewall or IDS implementation.  You will have experience in implementing or working within an information security management system or framework (whether ISO27001/17799, COBIT, ISF or similar).  Any experience you have in HMG/CESG policy and standards or other demonstrable experience in using risk assessment/threat modelling as a tool to define security controls and countermeasures will be useful in this role.

You need to be personable, confident and enthusiastic about your subject.  You need to be a confident speaker, willing and able to defend your point in a meeting if it is controversial or unpopular and able to articulate information security risks and technical issues to a non-technical audience up to board level.
