dns has launched a new managed security service named Identity Management on Demand in partnership with BMC Software, a leading provider of identity management software. This unique service initially offered in the UK, USA and the Nordics will change the way identity management solutions are implemented and managed.
With businesses facing growing complexity in IT infrastructure, compounded by the increased need for documentation and audit capability to ensure regulatory compliance, customers are looking for quick deployment, scalability and faster ROI models from provisioning IT services. The managed service approach for Identity Management enables customers to implement a secure, compliant solution, whilst reducing the degree of corporate risk and investment required in hardware and software solutions. The managed service will handle the implementation, ongoing administration and maintenance of the BMC Identity Management Suite.
Under the new partnership agreement, dns will remotely provide customers initially in the UK, USA and the Nordics with the integrated BMC Identity Management Suite offer, including directory management and visualisation, access management, user administration and provisioning, password management, application and data security and audit and compliance management solutions. The Identity Management on Demand service will be targeted at all medium and large organisations who are either looking to implement identity management solutions effectively or looking to cut the maintenance and administration costs of current identity management solutions. The service is expected to go live with customers in September.
Enabling customers to implement the BMC Identity Management suite through a managed service provider, delivers fast, secure and cost-effective user provisioning for identity and access management, as well as automated interoperability between key systems and applications such as HR, SAP, CRM and call centre, for example. Customers of the managed service will benefit from reduced risk in terms of ROI and regulatory compliance, reduced resource deployment on day-to-day administration of identity and access provisioning, as well as reduced expert staff resource requirement.
The team of IT security specialists at dns will provision and administer the managed service from its 24/7 security operations centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. In addition to managed provision of BMC Identity Management Suite, the dns service will also include systems management and maintenance, critical event monitoring and systems development.
“Implementing a comprehensive Identity Management solution for any number of users is costly to procure and administer, and many organisations have traditionally been under-served on availability of enterprise class security solutions with flexible business pricing models,” says Andrew Smith, EMEA Business Development Manager, BMC Software. “Offering the BMC Identity Management Suite as a managed service, not only delivers the quality of solution customers demand, it’s also faster to implement, enables increased compliance and audit capability, without the need to invest in the software licensing and staff resource to administer the solution in-house. dns has proven capability, expertise and the professionalism to deliver this managed service to customers world-wide and BMC is delighted with this partnership.”
Commenting on the announcement, Graeme Cox, managing director of dns says, “As the first company to be able to offer a managed identity management service, we are delighted to have partnered with BMC Software. Navigating the identity management minefield can be a costly and complicated business and our ability to deliver a complete identity management solution as a managed service, will enable us to alleviate customer concerns over compliance, risk and capital investment in IT.”
